About Us

The San Joaquin Valley Lapidary Society is located in Bakersfield, California. We are a group of rock hounds dedicated to the sharing of knowledge about the lapidary arts. We meet weekly for workshops in lapidary, silversmith, and wire wrapping/beading. We were founded in 2005, and are incorporated as a 501 (c) 3. Part of our focus is education, and offer a program for area elementary school 4th and 6th graders that supplements their geology studies.

COUNTY FAIR TIME IN BAKERSFIELD

See you at the Kern County Fair. Visit the Rock and Mineral displays, and our tables that SJVLS will be manning. Hand crafted jewelry, Ming trees, and other treasures can be found. Shop Us! We are located in the Big Building that houses the photography exhibits, community groups, and other great exhibits. Right in front between the entry doors, alongside the Kern Mineral Club Sales tables. Don't forget the midway with all those good things to eat, and of course the  Carnival attractions with high rides to thrill. Fair opens September 20 and runs through October 1.

Last year's club case displaying fossils from the local bone bed.

Amazing display of member made jewelry from 2016.
