The San Joaquin Valley Lapidary Society is located in Bakersfield, California. We are a group of rock hounds dedicated to the sharing of knowledge about the lapidary arts. We meet weekly for workshops in lapidary, silversmith, and wire wrapping/beading. We were founded in 2005, and are incorporated as a 501 (c) 3. Part of our focus is education, and offer a program for area elementary school 4th and 6th graders that supplements their geology studies.

Picnic Time for SJVLS
WHEN: June Eleventh
WHERE: Montana de oro State Park, Los Osos
TIME: Meet at 7 am at Harbor Freight Parking Lot.
Games, hamburgers and hot dogs, salads and desserts. Bring your family, bring your friends, bring a dish to share (by now you have been contacted about bringing a dish to share), and bring drinks (non alcoholic). Polling of our membership found that the beach location was far favored over the local park. So even thou the temp. in town will be lower this Saturday, we will be heading for the beach.
Los Osos is over a two hour drive from Bakersfield, we should arrive there by 10:30 am. Hope to see you there. Will be on the cool side, so bring a sweater or light jacket. Club will bring tables, barbecues. This is a beautiful place with tide pools, hiking trails, and small stones on beach.
