In Loving Memory of Don Reading
Teacher, Friend, and our Rock
July 7th 1944 – April 25, 2015
Words aren’t enough to express the thoughts, feelings and sadness felt at the loss of Don Reading. I was on my way home from Texas the morning of April 25. I was feeling satisfied that my Texas family situation was improving, and looking forward to being home.
That evening my daughter told me of Don’s death, as she cried. I thought this can’t be, and later kept thinking that maybe somehow, we could go back and undo the morning, and everything will be alright. Sadly, there is no rewriting of the script for that day. We will carry with us the many and varied memories we have of Don, and in his memory the club will continue, each of us carrying with us a bit of Don. He shared freely his knowledge, and his treasures. His enthusiasm for the craft and hobby that we all follow will not be forgotten.
Our meeting on May 16th will include a Native American ceremony conducted by Gene Stirm in honor of Don. We will have a brief business meeting starting at 9:30 am, followed by the ceremony with refreshments afterward, and a chance to visit. We will continue to meet on Saturdays for workshops thru June 13th. The June meeting will be a special day, and we will then break for the summer for both shop and general meetings. We will meet again on Sept. 12th.
My heartfelt thanks to all of you for everything you do to make our group warm, inviting, dynamic and special. Sally Larsen, president 2015
