About Us

The San Joaquin Valley Lapidary Society is located in Bakersfield, California. We are a group of rock hounds dedicated to the sharing of knowledge about the lapidary arts. We meet weekly for workshops in lapidary, silversmith, and wire wrapping/beading. We were founded in 2005, and are incorporated as a 501 (c) 3. Part of our focus is education, and offer a program for area elementary school 4th and 6th graders that supplements their geology studies.

Garden Fest Update: We are nearly ready for the Garden Fest on April 18th. Rocks, minerals, jewelry are priced and sorted for sale. Those who signed up to work in our booth that day will be called and given more details, set-up can be done either Friday the 17th between noon and 6 pm, or Saturday morning the 18th before the show starts. We will have student help to unload for setup, we will not be able to drive to the booth site. TK from the planner at BC is the exact booth location.

APRIL 25 will be the date of our next general meeting, this is also a fieldtrip day. Shop will be open and the general meeting will be held at 9:30 am.

SJVLS Club phone number is 661-556-2163. This number will be used in future newspaper announcements, and will be on our listing on the CFMS website. Club members should still use my home phone number.
