About Us

The San Joaquin Valley Lapidary Society is located in Bakersfield, California. We are a group of rock hounds dedicated to the sharing of knowledge about the lapidary arts. We meet weekly for workshops in lapidary, silversmith, and wire wrapping/beading. We were founded in 2005, and are incorporated as a 501 (c) 3. Part of our focus is education, and offer a program for area elementary school 4th and 6th graders that supplements their geology studies.

Welcome 2015

Happy New Year SJVLS friends. Just a note to say that I look forward to being with all of you on Saturdays and on fieldtrips. It has been a delight to know you all and have you here.

This Saturday, Jan. 3, there will be no workshop. I have caught a 'bug' and not quite up to the task. So will see you the following Saturday. I sent out emails to members asking what Saturday of the month we should hold a general meeting. Several responded that it didn't matter to them, and some said either the second or third Saturday would do. So, I have chosen the third Saturday, and the general meeting will be held ahead of the workshop, and should not take up much time. We do have some business to tend to as a group, and this is when and how we do it.

I am working on the newsletter and it should be out and emailed at least a week before the general meeting.
REMINDER: Dues for 2015 are due now. $25/person, or $35/family (living in same household). You can pay at the next meeting, or mail your check to SJVLS to Sally Larsen, 3020 N. Inyo St., Bakersfield, CA 93305
