About Us

The San Joaquin Valley Lapidary Society is located in Bakersfield, California. We are a group of rock hounds dedicated to the sharing of knowledge about the lapidary arts. We meet weekly for workshops in lapidary, silversmith, and wire wrapping/beading. We were founded in 2005, and are incorporated as a 501 (c) 3. Part of our focus is education, and offer a program for area elementary school 4th and 6th graders that supplements their geology studies.

General Meeting Jan. 17th

Our next general meeting is Jan. 17th at 9:30 am at 3020 N. Inyo St. The shop meeting will follow. There will be some amber for sale during the shop, and it contains a lot of bugs. It will be sold by the ounce by Don Reading. Really Nice Stuff!

We have a new piece of equipment thanks to Don and his friend in San Francisco who has provided the club with this grinding/saw unit. There is also a trim saw being assembled that is Sally's and loaned to the club.

Membership fees are due now for 2015, please pay your dues promptly. $25/person, $35 family.
