We received a flyer from a woman in Fresno who is having a sale of her father's rock collection. If any of you are interested in adding to your collection here is a good, and affordable chance to do so. A life time of collecting is ready for the picking. There is no equipment involved in this sale.
Recently the SJVLS was given a generous donation of rock, and a lapidary grinder. Member Greg Stanley gifted us with these. We also purchased from Greg a trim saw with blades, acetylene soldering set, and a small vibrating lap for jewelry.
Our club meets on Nov. 15th at 9:30 am at the Inyo address for a business meeting followed by shop time. Lots of business to attend to. See you then.
There are two club field trips coming up, Nov. 22 for rose quartz, and Nov. 29 to N. Edwards. Details are in the club newsletter, and will be announced at the Nov. 15 meeting.
The San Joaquin Valley Lapidary Society is located in Bakersfield, California. We are a group of rock hounds dedicated to the sharing of knowledge about the lapidary arts. We meet weekly for workshops in lapidary, silversmith, and wire wrapping/beading. We were founded in 2005, and are incorporated as a 501 (c) 3. Part of our focus is education, and offer a program for area elementary school 4th and 6th graders that supplements their geology studies.
